Fun Monday - Don't leave home without it!

Karina, this week's Fun Monday hostess, among other things wants "to see [our] security blankets....not the kind Linus carries around with him in the Charlie Brown cartoons, although, if you have one of those, by all means share it. What I want to see are the items you just cannot leave home without. What is it that if you leave your house without, you feel naked, incomplete, not quite right? ... What can't you leave home without?..."

First, the obvious:

Black_purse_cell_phone_and_rings

Less than a year ago, I couldn't say my purse was something I always had "on my person".  Ever since I was held at gunpoint...okay, not really, but it sounds MUCH more dramatic... ROBBED, I've been a slave to it :/.  Karina asked what we felt naked without, and that's gotta be my rings--engagement, wedding, and 10th anniversary (in the summer, my toe rings make the list).  And, of course, my cell phone, it might as well be my right hand's sixth finger.  Not that that would make me a freak or anything.

Next, I've talked enough about coffee in the past, my next photos should be no surprise--every morning I leave with one or the other (if my cell phone is my right hand's sixth finger, one of these must be my seventh--but only in the morning.  Hmmm, I AM beginning to look like a circus freak!):

Rembrandts_insulated_cup

Java_junkee_cute_coffee_mug

The Rembrandts insulated cup is from a Chattanooga "must-visit" (coffee shop/dessert destination) in the Bluff View Arts District; I couldn't resist surcie-ing myself with the "Java Junkee" coffee mug...it starts my day with a smile--especially when it's FULL of Dunkin' Donuts coffee!

The last "security items" I thought I'd share, live in my car (maybe that makes them my van's fifth wheel, keeping with the extra digits on my hand analogy....):

Colorful_car_necessitites

With three kids, I'm forever needing napkins to clean up spills (see above item :/), and someone ALWAYS needs a tissue (better than wiping stuff on the back of our seats!); the umbrella is an obvious "security blanket", but what are those two other colorful things?

Let's look inside:

Car_sewing_kit_and_first_aid_kit

A sewing kit and first aid kit that have come in handier than my 12 fingers!  The first aid kit is supposed to have has ibuprofen AND acetaminophen, Benedryl and Neosporin cream, bandages, a pocket knife, matches, sinus meds, instant spot remover (clothing "first aid"), eye drops and anti-bacterial wipes.  Fun Monday has been helpful this week because I realized I need to re-stock a few things thanks, kids >:(.

Okay, guys, that's it from me this week....thanks for your visit.  Be sure to visit Karina for the rest of Fun Monday fun :).

p.s. after receiving a few comments:  The Mary Engelbreit stinkin'-adorable- I-don't-care-how-much-you-mock-me (!) sewing kit was a gift from my sister because she knows I LOVE all things "ME".  It's thin and perfectly fits our door side pocket; the sewing items we use more than anything are the tape measure and scissors.  And, I promise you, if you put a first aid kit in your car, you will use it over and over again, strangers and friends will love you when you pull out something they need if they're gushing blood, and you will, in turn, think of me lovingly, realizing that Fun Monday has made a difference in your life.  So there (hmph! hands on hips, lips poked out)! :)

And if you haven't read my post below (and you have a minute to give me your opinion), please scroll to the end and tell me whether or not I should advise my neighbor about the "creature" living under their house!

I can't believe you haven't told your neighbour yet!
Good idea to have a first aid kit in the car. I have a little sewing kit at the office and use it all the time to sew up hems and things.

They could have done with you in New Orleans.

Wow you are just too organized. I used to cart all that crap around too, now I just can't be bothered. Im surprised you dont take the kitchen sink along as well.

I go light too.....no sense making the muggers a target, right? [and ya, *smacking my head* "I coulda had a V8 kinda style"-----rings. Without 'em I'd feel naked too. But dang, you thought of it first....]

Mine's posted...
Have a great MOANday.

coffee mugs are very important...you can never have enough...i have my staying home coffee mugs and my going out mugs...and your mugs are cool...they would be my going out mugs!

wow. those little pouches are very cute.
i don't even have a sewing kit in my house.

A SEWING KIT?!
You must have been a Girl Scout!

Goodness! You're prepared for everything AND colorful. You are my hero.

I am in awe. You have everything that I always figure out I need - right after I need it! Thanks goodness for 24 hour WalMarts for the non-prepared like me! Going to read your other blog now!

You are well prepared!

I became a germ freak when my son was a baby and the docs told us he could NOT catch a cold for his first year. His heart could not tolerate the illness. Now that he is older and stronger he is the one that brings all of the sickness home to the rest of us - go figure.

OOooooo, I need to do a first aid kit in my pimp-mommy van. Great idea.

As for the snake, unless it is poisonous I wouldn't make a deal about it. Snake eat mice and other annoying creatures.

You are SO prepared!! I just LOVE the M.E. sewing kit! Love it!! I need to get me a cute lil first aid kit put in my car. 3 boys, one in Football...what am I thinking not having one in the car?!
WHERE did you get the Java Junkie mug? I need one!

You are so freaking prepared.

I could take lessons from you. And probably should.

I had a teeny sewing kit for a long time and never replaced it when it ran low on supplies. A little safety kit like that is something I need to put in my car.

You know I washed my phone and now it doesn't take pictures anymore. After that happened, it was necessary to start toting the camera around.

That reminds me. I need more band-aids.

What a cute bag to keep the First Aid kit in!! Dave's company gave him a seriously huge First Aid kit and then he got another one from a co-worker (who left the company). So, we each have one in our vans....big white box with a red cross on it.

I only remember to take a sewing kit when we travel, forget the emergency first aid kit. :)

Good ideas and great post

Thanks

Robin of mytwoblessings

ToB, I haven't seen them out since then...I guess I should just knock on their door. I try to leave one of those little sewing kits (much smaller than this one) in purses, my overnight bag, etc., because invariably, ONE DAY I will need it...!

WT, look who's talkin'.

Karisma, who says I don't cart around the kitchen sink? ;)

Hootin' A, there will be no head smacking on my blog, young lady! :)

Kerith, because I really like these two, I take much better care of them (unfortunately, I've lost a few of my husband's that were less cute :( ).

Laurie, the only ones I have were picked up from hotel rooms...:/. But they sure do come in handy!

Lisa, why, yes I was. Would you like to buy some cookies??

Jenn, a colorful, prepared hero. I sound like Rainbow (Wo)man....lol.

Sandy, the funny thing is, I'm more like you than this post sounds...I'm always needing something I meant to get but didn't :/.

Beckie, gosh, nothing like pressure! I remember being soooo relieved after the first month or so of each of my children's lives that they hadn't had a fever...something about a spinal tap if they did and that scared the snot outta me!

Nikki, ummmm...that's the thing...I might be a snake HANDLER, but I sure ain't no snake IDENTIFIER. Probably not the smartest thing to do, to touch something that has the potential to kill me (but honestly, I think it was a common black snake and he didn't hiss or rattle. He was rude, though, he stuck his tongue out a few times ;) ).

Kaytabug, I'm telling ya, we use the F.A. kit ALL THE TIME (what did we do BEFORE I put one in the car?)!! Bandages are right behind headache meds.... The JJ mug came from a hilarious shop in Helen, Georgia. I'll try to find out the manufacturer and letcha know :) (they had SEVERAL adorable choices...I had a hard time making a decision).

Jenny, I'll teach you a thing or two, you do the same for me. Now THAT exchange could be interestingly beneficial to both of us!

Pamela, at least are your calls are clean now...:/. I'm scared my camera will get stolen, but I do try to keep our little point-and-shoot in and hidden from view.

Robinella, glad to be of service ;).

Karmyn, I got the idea after I met a former nurse who keeps a MAJOR f.a. kit with her at all times. We went to the beach w/a mutual friend a few years ago, and it came in handy 2-3 times that week. After that, I came home and made up my own; we add to it whenever we thing of something we might "need" one day.

Oh....and as for the bag, it's one of those freebies that (I think) Clinique gave out once.

OOooo, hey Robin, you must've been typing while I was typing. Thanks for your always kind words :).

I would definitely need all those wipes if I carried a sewing kit. Just to wipe off all the blood from my fingers as I feebly attempted to sew stuff back together!

A sewing kit? Wow! You are one organized lady! Didn't even think about my rings. I'd be the same without mine - naked! Great post and thank you for the info on mine! ;-)

You are nothing if not prepared. You would fit in well in Tornado Alley!

Be prepared a good motto! I think your sewing kit is far more use than the one I carry in my bag (purse).

Tiggerlane, I'm usually good for at least one finger prick when I'm sewing on a button. Mostly, I just use the tape measurer :).

Deborah, My husband has GOT to be laughing at all the organized comments........I'm just sayin...that shoe doesn't fit very well ;).

(and you're welcome, I hope it was helpful.)

AFF, Hmmmm, even so, I don't think I'll make plans to visit!

Chris, Absolutely--one of my many mottos is "better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it". My kids will back me up on that one!

Suck those lips back in because I think it's adorable!! Colorful and adorable and a fantastic idea I would never have thought. Love Fun Mondays! Great post.

Ohhh, love the Coffee Junkee cup, were can i get one?

You have "prepared" on lock, sister!! And of course, everything is in a darling little case, I'd expect nothing less from you :)

After your comment on my blog, I'm beginning to wonder if Target is two timing me.

i'm impressed! i'm lucky if i have a few spare napkins from a drive-thru dinner to sop up blood and other bodily fluids ... :o)

happy monday!

Be Prepared; you must be a Boy Scout (at least I think that is their motto.) I impressed with how well prepared you are. I have bought car first aid kits for other people, but I am not sure that we currently have one in each car. I like the ME sewing kit. I won at a sewing kit at a baby shower so I put that one in my desk at work.

I love the Java Junkie mug! It would put a smile on my face too (especially with DD coffee in it, yum).
