Fun Monday - Shoes & Toes & Feet, Oh! My!!
This week's Fun Monday hostess is someone I have seen naked before...
ME!!! :)
Now that you have a smile on your face and it better NOT be because you're laughing AT me!, let's go to the other end of your body and talk FEET. This week's theme is spelled out for you HERE (as well as the list of all Fun Monday "shoe hoes" and "pedi-nistas"); after some INTENSE VOTING, and a nudge from a friend of mine when I had to break the tie, I chose "Shoes/Feet" because of THIS POST of hers.
I meant to warn you not to use the phrase "f00t fet1sh" in your post; you will get some scaryfreak google searches if you do; I found this out the hard way and had to change the name of a post because of that (I googled that phrase myself and when I saw the first page of entries I bolted and RAN!).
After seeing Jenny's post, I really did want to copy that for my FM post; it was stinkin' adorable...didn't work out and believe it or not, I shan't bore you with the details :/. Instead, here's a repeat of our "foot family portrait" from the beach last year (I STILL love it, so maybe I should have it enlarged and framed).
Now...shoes...
A little story first. On Mother's Day this year, Tad cooked a delicious lunch for me after church; the children gave me their cards and a gift... It was simply lovely, spending time with my sweet family. H o w e v e r, my friend Stephanie and I had cooked up something at church--what we wanted to do AFTER our family lunches--and I popped the question to Tad: "Do you mind if Steph and I go to a movie and then shopping?" It was Mother's Day, he would've given me whatever I wanted and didn't seem the slightest bit offended I wanted a chick-filled afternoon.
Off we went to see "In the Land of Women", and after, we went shoe shopping. I HATE TO SHOP FOR CLOTHES, AND SHOES ARE CLOTHES, so this was no different, EXCEPT...I needed some new shoes and I was with Stephanie, and she's like a kid in a candy store when it comes to shopping for clothes or shoes or purses or jewelry...whatevah. With every pair I tried on, I got her honest opinion, and the girl's got style, so I trusted it. I began piling the shoes in a cardboard box-filled mountain for the pairs she clapped and squealed over, and when the mountain was taller than me, I knew I was in trouble.
When I came home with five pairs (not expecting to keep them all), Tad didn't mind a bit...he thanked Stephanie, and I figure I'm good for a few years. It was a glorious shopping day in spite of my aversion, and we stayed until the mall closed :).
Here is a mixture of some of the new with my favorite oldies.
You know in the fall and spring when it's cool but you're still wearing capris? I always wondered what shoes to wear. These ![]()
are perfect!
Stephanie says a little toe cleavage is "H A W T!" If you heard her say it, you'd believe her, too. Here are some black and brown heels that offer a little peek:
And, remember my get-away with Tad a while back when he tried to MAKE me buy a pair of Cole Haan's? And I couldn't pull the trigger because they were too pricey? Apparently, Stephanie put the gun in my hand and pulled for me (yes, they are the single-most expensive pair of shoes I've ever bought...yes, they are surprisingly comfortable for heels...and yes, I have happy tingles whenever anyone compliments them--that's just shoe gravy (which is NOTHING like toe jam!). Come here, sweet luvahs...!
Ahhh...comfort shoes...not always the purtiest of things, but they sure do make your feet smile. In the past, I've written about my affections for obnoxious orange Crocs and orange Chacos (apparently my "Orange ShoePhase"), a year or two ago, I feel in love with a pair of Uggs...these make me crave cooler weather and thank goodness they are NOT orange!
These look disease-riddled, but they're my all-time favorite pair of shoes; there was a time in my life where I said I'd NEVER wear a pair.... They fit my feet like a glove and I just might have 'em bronzed when they wear out. I am Birkenstock...and sometimes I eat granola.
Let's end on Summer note....these are my only favorite pair of Teva flip flops...just looking at this picture makes me wistful for all things beach.
Okay kiddos...be sure to CLICK HERE (or scroll down) to get the list of everyone else who's steppin' up to the Fun Monday plate today! Thanks to Pamela at The Dust Will Wait for hostessing next week...be sure to visit her to find out the theme she's chosen for us :).

*Drool* I love the shoes you have posted so far. :)

I really like that first pair!
I also want to mention that your family has lovely feet. Mine - not so much.

That is a great selection of shoes. I am planning to get some Birkenstocks, but I am going to order them from Germany and I still have another person to get an order from before I do that. I am hoping to do it this week. My shoes aren't as fancy as yours. I love your family foot portrait.

Your daughter is correct, peep-toe shoes are the sexiest! I'm quite fond of them myself.
I won't go into my feelings on crocs...we'll just leave that alone! ;-)

those expensive pair are beautiful. As I said, shopping is not fun for me. Now it is even more painful to shop because I have to pass up all the pretty stuff because there is nothing like that in the type of shoes that will handle my inserts.

Oh I love the Teva flip flops!!! But I love flip flops!! I bet those would come in second place to the most comfy flips flops Crocs being first! I love your peep toes too!!

I find Birkenstock shoes so comfortable I have a pink pair of their flip flops I nearly posted a picture (wish I had now). Your uggs look great and so do the privo I could do with a pair of those.

I really like the Privos! The Uggs are kinda uggly, but kinda cute, too. Mostly they look comfy and warm.

I'm so with you on the Uggs. They are heaven in a shoe. And, warm? AHHH. Love the Cole Haans. I haven't owned a pair since high school when I wore them daily with the uniform...cause back then, my mom paid for the shoes.

wow...you went all out...no shoes is still the best shoes for me!
Posted by: Kerith Collins | October 01, 2007 at 02:16 PM
Oh... I think I need to get my hands(er...feet) on a pair of those Privos!! They look SO comfortable!!
Posted by: Jodi | October 01, 2007 at 03:34 PM
oh gawd, i may have to go shoe shopping now! you are making me droooooool for privo and (saints preserve us) cole haans. (at least we don't hang out at the same places, you know...just in case i might have to buy the same shoes as you. i'm just sayin...)
Posted by: janet | October 01, 2007 at 03:36 PM
You're the second one to mention Teva flip flops. Gotta go see what that is all about.
Posted by: Robinella | October 01, 2007 at 03:50 PM
Deb, do I need to get you a bib? ;)
Beckie, you should've seen my boys toes yesterday...you mighta gagged!
Dawn, you WILL love them...if people will just close their eyes and put 'em on their feet? They'll love 'em!
Karina, I saw your non-comment enough times today to know you're feelings on Crocs, lol. That's okay, to each her own ;). And although Steph is a good bit younger than me, she's my FRIEND (and she'll get a kick outta that comment if she reads).
Pamela, I'm not too far away from inserts being helpful. Until that time, I guess every five years or so I'll go on a binge like I did in May.
Kaytabug, I bet Croc flips ARE more comfortable than Tevas; I only have the clog style, but I know how comfortable THOSE are, so I think you're right!

Chris, I've thought about buying "pretty" Birkenstocks, but so far, I'm just too cheap...:). You have to get used to walking on Uggs, they have a wooden UNFLEXIBLE sole (I almost broke my behind on more than one occasion after I bought those!).
Lisa, Yaaaaeeee! I'm glad you ended up having a bit of fun after all :).
Beccy, it never felt so good to be bad ;)...I DID feel lucky (they're all actually comfortable!).
Jenni, you nailed it about the Uggs, that fur is WONDERFUL in the winter--I don't always wear socks and they feel VERY cozy. There were pink ones, too, when I bought the color I did at TJ Maxx...I restrained myself because THAT would've just been over-the-top obnoxious!
Ooops, Jessica, I just realized I haven't added you yet (I will when I'm done posting comment replies :) ).
Pam, we'll see you next week!! :)
AFF, it took me MONTHS to buy those CHs...I'm TOO cheap! I tried to find them discounted online, no such luck. I will say this, they're amazingly comfortable and most of the time I wear them, strangers notice...:).
Posted by: Robin (the pensieve one) | October 01, 2007 at 04:09 PM
Kerith, ME TOO!
Jodi, I have mine on now (had to get my feet dressed when I went to pick up my kids from school), and yes, YOU DO NEED SOME! They have some REALLY cute styles (and they feel pretty doggone good for a girl who prefers barefeet).
Janet, so what if we showed up at the same place? We'd be shoe twins!!! It hurt to buy 'em, but (thankfully) I'm still glad Steph "made" me ;).
Robinella, Yes, you must! :)

I love the kind of people who wear Birkies...I've never put on a pair though. I'm going to make that my goal before I hit 50.
Posted by: min | October 01, 2007 at 05:46 PM
Some very nice shoes, and some very nice presentation.
BTW, I'm not the one who called you loquacious, I merely pointed out to Pamela what it actually meant in case she had used it in error. But since she didn't take the opportunity to change it, I guess she must have meant it ;) Maybe it's her you should go an stomp on.

Thank you for hosting this week's Fun Monday. I have enjoyed looking at the feet and the shoes. The Cole Haan shoes are beautiful. I am sure you are the fashion plate everywhere that you go in these shoes.
The family foot portrait at the beach is precious; you should have it enlarged and framed.

I love your blog! I just found you. And I am totally loving your "shoe" theme, Lovah!
You go, Carrie! (Bradshaw...)
