Late to my own party! HELP!! :)

Robin_the_momnesiac Good gracious--I just realized I missed my three-year blogging anniversary!  Though I didn't share my URL with a soul for about six months, I always wrote as if I had an audience.

Help me celebrate? Share your favorite quote or happy thought or memory or scripture reference or favorite blog post of yours or mine...or whatever you feel like sharing in comments.

If you're a lurker--a reader who never comments--would you pretty-please come out of the woodworks for this one?  And if you're a sometimes commentor (but haven't in a while), would you be sure to say "hi"?   If you're an all-the-time commentor, THANK YOU DOESN'T BEGIN TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE FOR YOUR CONTINUED PATRONAGE AT CHEZ PENSIEVE.

Revised:  Well, now, internets...THIS was FUN to come home to!!!  I'm officially in the afternoon grind with my (not-so) babies, but THANK YOU for helping celebrate in style!!!  Keep those cards & letters comin'...that's some yes-ma'am-serious air blowin' up my skirt!!! :)

P.S.  if you happen to read the comment thread...the makings of a whiz-bang post is on the way...can you guess which comment??

xoxoxox  Cyber hugs & candy kisses (& autographs if you insist) to my favorite readers!!!  (Ummm, that would be...YOU!!!)

It's not you, it's not even me...it's THEM!

  • Thanks to those of you who have tried to access Inspired Bliss (even though or official launch is about two weeks away) or Blissfully Domestic's main page.  The site is still under construction or it might be a case of your ISP being slow to make the transition to the new site (I can pull it up just fine, but I've "heard" lots of y'all are having trouble viewing it, instead arriving at a parked domain when you click the page).
  • TypePad is experiencing problems with email notification of comments; I wondered why NOTHING I had posted was generating any comments, and then when I pulled up my page, voila!  A few were there.  I issued a help ticket and Typepad responded with "We're workin' on it".

Just in case you noticed either ;).

"Getting lucky"....

Omaha_steaks I sure hope he was talking about the steaks!

Far be it for me, the Religion/ Philosophy channel editor for Blog Nosh Magazine and the editor for soon-to-be launched Inspired Bliss (the faith channel for Blissfully Domestic) to lead a person to any type of unsavory conduct.

WE INTERRUPT THIS BLOG POST TO STOP IT BEFORE ROBIN SAYS WHAT SHE RILLYRILLY WANTS TO SAY in consideration of good taste and self restraint.

Sometimes it ain't easy, folks, especially when current events tempt.  As delicious as it looks, I think I'll leave the apple on the tree.

It'd probably make for more entertaining waaaay better more controversial blogging if I didn't self-censor.  DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW FILTERED MY HAWT ANESTHESIOLOGIST and colonoscopy PSAs were???

If you're a blogger, do you find your wings being clipped shorter and shorter the more people in real life read you?  The more exposed you are?  I wonder how different my Dr. Kevorkian piece would be had I written it today.

Anyways........

Mark-the non-blogging commenter has spurred a flurry of searches for people looking for an Omaha Steak Cooking chart; I wonder if finding it will bring them as much happiness as it did him (For the record, the chart fabulously removes the guesswork from grilling--we've never over/undercooked a steak using it).

Man, his comment made my smile...and then worry just a bit.

:)

Why, thank you...thankyewverymuch!

You know it's six shades of back-to-school-after-summer-vacation whacky when I fail to thank-by-posting some awesome bloggers who've shared a little Blog Love with me.  And to add major insult to injury?  I CAN'T FIND TWO OF THE NOTICES IN EMAIL to go back and add them to this post!  I've searched my emails but to no avail :( (if you were one of the sweetpeeps who blog-blinged me and aren't mentioned here, would you a) PLEASE forgive me and b) let me know so I can add you to this post?).

Brillante_blog_award First, thanks to Jeanie in Paradise for telling me she thinks I'm smokingly brilliant (or something close to that ;).  Please check out her link for full details and I'd like to pass it along to:  Velveteen Mind (my "boss" and publisher for Blog Nosh Magazine) and Mrs. Fussypants Guide to Life (my soon-to-be boss after the re-launch of Blissfully Domestic).  Both of these ladies have created wonderful ezines, have promoted them well, take care of their editors, and write entertaining blogs of their own.  Another "Brilliant" in my estimation is Anna, Anna Carson Photography (NOT my boss but my photography mentor).  I learn by her example.

IloveyourblogawardNext, I got a fun surprise yesterday from Alyssa (Life from my Laptop), the "I love your blog" award; that one, I hadn't even yet seen.  Trista (The Pumkin Patch) also snuck one to me :).

I could give this to the 300+ blogs in my reader, but narrowing it down to the seven I'm supposed to (check out full details at Alyssa's link), I'd like to award to a few new bloggers (Shelly W., Life on the Wild Side and Peculiar, How Do We Get There From Here) a few OLD bloggers (Pamela, The Dust Will Wait and Swampwitch, Anecdotes, Antidotes & Anodes), and a few of my faithful Poetic License and/or Friday's 40 Players (Karisma, Karisma & Kids, Amber, Imperishable Beauty and Brandon, Words of Redemption).

Last but not least, remember when I told y'all I was for sale to the highest bidder?  Looks like the winning price was $1,275.00, give or take a decimal point.  The artist, Kay Crain, found a picture of me in a bikini on the world wide web and asked permission to paint the portrait.  If you have vintage photos from the 50s & 60s, she'd be interested in talking to you.  If you're as fortunate as me, she might just paint an extra canvas for you as thanks for granting permission!

Thanks again, and be sure to click the original presenter links so you can find out the long and short of passing along the blog-bling to others in your sphere!

Jill of all trades, blogger of NOTHING!

What a way to follow up the wonderfully and surprisingly well-attended BlogHop '08--by not posting anything new!  Sure, I snuck in a Project Black, but by the looks of my blog, you'd never know I'm in the middle of writing THREE new posts; between Rockband on one end of the house, and a TV blaring on another, I can't think.  Can I bribe you to subscribe to Pensieve so you won't forget to read when they're finished?? :)

And imagine this--a few things need attention around the house!  If anyone would like to lend me the cleaning fairies, I'll be happy to cook your dinner for the next month.

Expect a posting binge...and I'll be visiting party revelers and Bloglinees all week long.  It's been a delight to meet some new friends and reconnect with some long-time blogmates.

Oooo, and even though I didn't make it to BlogHer, my weekend was full of bloggity goodness:

BIG OL' HONKIN' THANKS TO - - -

-- Shannon at ThreeSeven.ca whose giveaway for a copy of Corel Paint Shop Pro I won during Kelby's party (can you say "Wow!!!"??);

-- & to MindGmbmbadgey (and Jenny-in-abstentia) for featuring my Un-Superhero-ish Wonder Woman post on Good Mom/Bad Mom's BlogShare Sunday.

-- & to Karen (Simply...A Musing Blog) for all her help with BlogHop AND for creating a monster when she let me co-host a party chat on Blog Radio (using her "Behind the Blog"  access...which, by the way, y'all will need to tune into TOMORROW for it's regularly scheduled show, 12 CST).

Congratulations to - - -

BlogHop '08...& YOU'RE INVITED!

When you think about it, in comparison to the millions of blogs in existence, only a few bloggers are able to attend BlogHer; those who are going just have bigger mouths large readerships good reason to write about it:

THEY'RE BLOGGERS, PEOPLE!  We ALL write about the minutia of our lives, and in a blogger's life?  Meeting the people you read IN REAL LIFE is tantamount to a middle-aged hacker golfing in a foursome with Tiger and Phil and Vijay, or a highschool basketball standout playing with Michael Jordan, or ME COOKING DINNER WITH PAULA DEEN!!!

So, for the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of the rest of us, we'll continue blogging as usual without the concern of plane crashes or falling into an earthquake crevice or being run over by a wayward railcar or having to eat beans and rice for a month to make up for travel expense.  See?  All good things.

Bloghop08 Oh, and one more thing...YOU'RE INVITED to a special cyber-party for those NOT attending BlogHer!  Simply write a party post and link it back tonight beginning at 10 p.m. EST (9:00 Central).

It's your choice what to include, but I'd love to find some wonderful party recipes you might have; hopefully, you'll be meeting some new bloggers, so a quick intro post might be good including a FEW links to your favorite archived posts; or maybe you'd like to offer "party favors" (aka a giveaway).

A word of advice--the briefer your post, the better, 'cause that will allow you to visit a few more bloggy friends (note to self:  read, then re-read previous sentence!).

Karen at Simply...A Musing Blog and co-host of Behind the Blog radio show has set up a chat for us beginning at 10 p.m. EST (9:00 p.m. Central).  Just follow these easy directions:

1. Go to http://www.blogtalkradio.com and sign up for a free "listener account" by clicking on "Register" on the top blue navigation bar and join in the conversation.

2. Once you’ve done that, you can find our chat tonight by typing in www.blogtalkradio.com/simplyamusingdesigns and then once we're live and on the air, you can click on the button that says, "listen" and a new page will open up and you’ll see the chat room!

3. If you'd like to chat in the chat room, once you've clicked on the listen button, you should see another button that says "chat live" and if you click it, a new window will pop up and you'll be in our chat room and ready to chat.

Last but not least, please help spread the word!  Pick up the button and link the image back to my main page--write a post, Tweet it, Plurk It, Stumble it and Kirtsy it...with a party, I'm all about the more the merrier!  Mr. Linky will be up by 10 EST, earlier if I'm able :).

Have I left anything out?  Email or leave a comment, and I'll get back to you when I'm able.

Make friends.  Mix and mingle.  The party may start at 10:00 EST tonight, but I suspect it'll last all weekend long ;) :).

July 17, 2008

A very private post for all those bloggers not going to BlogHer--

REVISED:  I'll post details tonight at 10:00 p.m. EST.  :)  I'll tell ya this much--based on early buzz, y'all already have me jazzed!

People who don't blog?  This will be of no interest to you.

People who DO blog...stayed tuned...I'm coming up with a way for us to play, even if we aren't partying on the San Andreas Fault.

:)

Clearly, an indication a) I have too many blogs in my reader; b) I'll NEVER catch up; c) I'm the eternal optimist thinking "One day I'll have time to read 'em all," d) it's past time to "tighten" Bloglines.

Cleared...whew, that feels good!

This feels a lot like finally getting that "last load" of laundry done, only to walk upstairs and see the hamper's on its way to full.

Yep, I just checked--"three unread posts".

And so we begin again....

SheSpeaks ~ Come and get it!

Please scroll down for newer posts!
This will remain at top for SheSpeaks bloggers to find easily :)

Shespeaksbutton Hey y'all!

Can't wait to hear blogger recaps on SheSpeaks.  Lysa and the entire P31 team brought excellence to the conference; blogging sessions were added this year for the first time in the conference's eight-year history, a shrewd decision that piqued my interest (and the interest of over 100+ bloggers of the 560 attendees).  If you have a summary post, please spread the word so everyone can find it easily.

It's been a treat meeting so many bloggers IN REAL LIFE!  It changes the dynamic of the blog relationship in the nicest of ways...

Mine'll come soon...in the meantime, yours will make for good reading :)  If you're visiting from one of my SheSpeaks sistahs, by all means, SPEAK!  I'd love to know you stopped by!!

(Be sure to link your permalink, not your main page--just click your post title or the "permalink" tag and it'll pop up in your browser.) :)

It's like partying with rockstars, but without the booze, and you know, rockstars
